Blogger Perks!

I know, I know.
You were hoping the next post would announce the winner, right??
Well, I'm still loading all the entries up, and I think I may split it up into a couple of slideshows....because I think there are about 400-500! Wow!!

I was also thinking that instead of picking the winners myself, maybe I would narrow it down to my favorites, and let you all vote on the winners! Would that be fun? Or would it be better if I just chose?

While we're awaiting the unbelievably time-consuming loading up of entries, I thought I would show off a couple of the goodies I've received from readers lately!

This necklace was made by a wonderfully sweet lady named Kathleen. I almost died when I first saw it! It must have taken so much time to make.
And she sent me a little Amy Butler fabric with it, too! I could kiss her feet!!
Thank you, Kathleen!!
This coffee sleeve and pin cushion were a little present from the wonderful Jessica, at Happy Together! You know, Jessica was one of the girls who helped me get started blogging in the beginning! She was such a blessing, I love her! :o)
And this apron was a gift from Josi, another sweet reader! She sent me the sweetest little note to go along with it. Thank you, Josi! (sorry for the horrible photo!)
I always joke with my husband that it doesn't matter that I don't make money off my blog, because of all the sweet blogger perks I get! :o)
But seriously.
I am so touched by all this kindness-from people that I don't even really know! Although I have to admit, I do feel a strange little bond between myself and all of you. Like if we met in real life, we would already be the best of friends! I guess that's a little corny, but who cares?

Take care, friends, I'll see you soon!

  1. Aargh! I've been waiting all day! I guess a vote will work...I'm sure the pressure to pick out of all those lovelies was terrible! Just make sure you put a definite ending time on it so we all won't go crazy!

  2. You don't make money yet? I had to scroll and see that in fact, you don't have ads. Monetize baby! Your hard work should be getting at least a little more support. Either way, thanks for all of your time & effort.

  5. I really like your skirt too! Did you make it?

  6. Yes, I made it a couple of years ago, it makes me feel so springy!

  7. Love your skirt! I can't wait to see all the entries! I don't know about letting everyone vote, it almost seems like a popularity contest that way. I know that's how these things are usually run, but I thought this contest was pretty cool cuz you were actually choosing the winners!

  8. That skirt is GORGEOUS! And I love the idea of voting on the final winner! :)

  9. That necklace is gorgeous! Does kathleen(I hope that's the makers name) sell them or do tutorials? I think I would buy one!

I'm just so grateful you spend the time to share all of your delightful knowledge and odds and ends with strangers...It's so kind and generous and charitable. Thank you.

  10. Love your skirt! And those gifts are awesome. I at first thought that yah, voting would be great until I read someone's comment on the popularity thing, which I kind of agree on. But I also see your point completely on trying to choose a winner! How hard for you! But seriously, it's your contest and you can make the rules and we'll all play by them happily, I'm sure.

  11. Oh, yes, let's vote! Such a fun contest, even though I didn't have time to enter. And of course we have a bond--you let us into your life, and we like to share a piece of our with you sometime, too! :)

  12. I agree with a couple of previous posts... at first I thought voting a winner would be great. But then it would really end up being a popularity contest. Someone who has the best creation might not have the fan base and online friends to win, you know? But like Christie said... its your contest and you make the rules.

  13. I think you should just pick the winners!!
    Love the skirt!!

  14. Happy Easter to you and your family Disney! He is risen! Might I add that the flowers in the boots idea might get stolen by me for a centerpiece? Precious!

  15. 1st-off,Disney, I love the skirt! It's screaming Spring;) I love all of your talented bloggers friends. And BTW, we feel bonded to you too! Happy Easter!

  16. Hey - I might be with the others on no voting. I think you should just pure out pick your favorite based on what you said - creativity and over all appearance and leave it at that. I think we all knew when you began this that YOU were going to be the judge! SO it's okay!

  17. I would LOVE to vote on this! Not because I don't trust you, but I think that your readers maybe might surprise you!

  18. I think you should pick the winners. You're the ruffle expert. :) I can't wait to see all the entries!

  19. Perhaps some of the sponsors could help you make the decision, Oh I don't know I am just glad I am not in your shoes, and I am terrified at the prospect of being voted for {or not!} :)

  20. oh and I also just wanted to say that although it may be corny it is really like we are all internet pen pals and I think it's awesome. I always wanted a pen pal and now I have lots. :)

  21. I think you should pick a winner so it doesn't become a contest of who has the most followers on their craft blog or who has the best photography.

This constest was so great. LOOOVE that apron!

  23. That is so sweet. I feel the same as you, that strange little bond. I do think we would be great friends in real life. You skirt is so lovely. I'm torn between whether you should pick the winners or allow a vote.

  24. You could totally be making money from your blog! Put some ads up. Get monthly sponsors. Sell patterns/directions to your more sophisticated work. Open a zazLe store and let people buy "ruffled and stuff" tsgirts and bags. Create an ebook or self-publish through a site like lulu. So many opportunities. You don't have to give away your soul to make a few bucks!

  25. Oh Disney your killing us, pick a winner yourself, we can not wait for voting!!!!!

  26. hey Disney!
if the majority says no vote, you can always use http://www.random.org/ to pick a random winner...

  27. I say that you just pick the winners!

  28. You get blessed with gifts because you bless us with your ideas, your honesty and your warmth...

    ReplyDelete
  29. you pick!! we want to know your favorites! i think you'll be a more honest judge. sometimes people are drawn to something just because it is photographed really well, for instance. can't wait!!!!

  30. Opps! Just read the above posts and see that you did indeed make the skirt! :)

  31. Good for you! By the way, the skirt you have on in the 1st picture is so beautiful! I am assuming you made it!!!??? Happy Easter, J

  32. First, i think maybe narrow it down and let the bloggers vote, those are a lot of fun to do. You deserve all the gifts you recieve,Your Blog makes so many of us excited,im sure you know how valuable you-your blog is to us out here in blog land.

I click on my computer and first thing i check is to see if you have a new post..

  33. Great skirt and the shirt turned into apron is such a great idea!! I would think it very hard to choose a winner for the contest. The stuff I saw was such top notch ruffles. If you narrowed it down it really would be like you choosing what you liked best and then having some help for the final. So very content not being in your shoes at this moment:)

  34. Love you too girl! PS...gorgeous skirt!

  35. Eek! That pin cushion is adorable! I am going to go rummage through her site to see if she has a tutorial or something up on that. XD

  36. Glad you like the apron :)

There is a pretty lame tutorial on my site ( tilthestarsfall.blogspot.com ) for making it- i'll never make tutorials like you do--
    Anyhow.
Hope you had a blessed Easter!!

  37. Disney, It is unbelieveable that you don't make money off your blog! Most people would jump on the chance to do that. I don't know your reason for not doing it (I know you've mentioned it is a long story,) but I think you are awesome. As I was pondering this, I thought about your personality and kindness and wondered if you could donate any money made from this site to charity, a church or humanitarian project. I obviously don't know the tax side of this or what other reason you can't make more money, but it seems like donating the money to charity is something you would do if you could. Just a thought! i don't want to complicate your life!
