Hi and welcome!!

My name is Disney, and this is my little blog.
Ruffles and Stuff started as a craft/sewing/DIY blog, and my daughter Paige and I enjoyed so many special years sharing those posts with you all! After losing my darling sister to suicide, my blog become a cathartic online journal to help me overcome my grief. Her struggle to leave an abusive marriage gave me the courage to leave my own, and now I am living free and starting over as a single mom with CPTSD.

Through the ups and downs, my soul grows closer and closer to my true love-our glorious, loving, indescribable Creator. My mind and heart are on him almost every moment.

Washingtonian, transplanted in the midwest. For now. 💕

  5. Literally JUST stumbled on your blog because I Googled how to make an easy jersey shirt. I have two kids (both boys; one is two and the other 5 months) of my own and LOVE to do crafts (when I have the time). I rediscovered a sewing machine my mother bought me 10 years ago, so I am figuring that out all over again. I'm most interested in figuring out ways to change my maternity gear to fit my not-pregnant self. Can't wait to see your ideas!

  6. I just stumbled across your blog today and I'm kinda obsessed already! (Not in a freaky way, I promise :) My husband is back in school/praying about seminary/waiting for God to show us the next step and so i'm trying to learn how to be resourceful and a good steward of all God has blessed us with at this point in our lives and I love learning from others like you, who are obviously doing just that! I also started sewing (yesterday) and you are an inspiration to keep learning! Keep shining!

  8. I adore you blog! Found it linked through another crafting site today :-) You and your daughter are just beautiful.

BTW you little girl looks a lot like what I think mine will in a few years (Vietnamese mixed with my white-mutt-ness, lol). Did that make sense?

  9. You are so cute! I love your blog already and just stumbled across it from "One Pretty Thing." I have a 1 year old daughter and just love her to pieces. I can't wait to start making her more things - especially the no sew ruffle coat. So cute!

  11. Hi Disney!,
I recently discovered your blog and have been following for a couple of weeks now - it's SO cute! You're DIY projects are right up my alley! In fact, when I saw the capelet you made for your daughter, I had to make one right away for mine! I have a daughter who is almost two, so it was perfect!
I posted about making it here: www.arrowsinmyquiver.blogspot.com. There is a link back to your blog in my post.

  14. Hey Disney...

This is my first trip to your blog but definitely won't be my last. I am a Canadian PW just learning to sew and I adore all your awesome creations! I just made a wardrobe refashion commitment for 2 months so I think I will be here a lot!

I also think it's awesome how many pastor's wives and Jesus followers are commenting here...there are some forums where pastors wives can all chat but I love that everyone here has so much in common. I think it would be so nice to have a Jesus centred sewing/creative retreat with all of you!

Have a great day Disney...ooo, and I am up right now because I am cuddling my 6 month old Liam back to sleep while my 2.5 year old Chloe is sleeping...going backto bed now.....zzzzz

  15. Fun blog that I will have to catch up on. I'm a youth pastor's wife (and also in that extremely poor category) with three little girls (4, 2, 9 months)that I love making things for (if I have time to sit and breathe), so most of my stuff is made from my mother in laws stash or stuff people buy for/give me. I just started blogging this summer myself and love reading other sewing blogs for ideas! Cool blog design, btw!

I can't wait to go home TODAY to try out ATL ruffle tank (as, like you said, Ann and I are also kinderd spirits and I have spent gobs of money there myself)! :) But it will have to wait until after my trip to the $1 store to pick up some microwave plate covers! I'm re-doing my 5 year old's room and I've been looking for a small night light but more of a lamp-like light! Thank you so much for sharing your love of crafts!

  53. Stumbled upon your blog and am in love with it. I have two young girls and during their afternoon nap time looked through the last year or so of posts and got absolutely inspired. After nap time, playing and dinner- my 2 1/2 year old and 8 month old went to bed for the night and I got out my sewing machine. I took one of my shirts that I was going to give to a thrift store just because I was bored with it, and made it into an adorable dress for her. I am so proud of it and can't believe I would have gotten rid of that shirt if I had not read your wonderful blog. She was so proud of her new dress and head band. I want to make one of your crafts a week. Love everything here, it is so well done and cute. It's perfect for my life and family too because the crafts are fairly simple and I have two cute daughters like yours. Thank you for your amazing ideas, so excited to make more crafts.

  72. Hey Disney! i completely love your blog. I'm 23 years old, on my first real job, struggling thru a writer's block, and trying to find back my old 'crafty' streak like u call it. i've been following ur lovely blog for about a week now... n i superlike all ur pretty artsy craftsy creations... especially ur pictures and your own little "punkin" angel :) i really like ur dresses, specially the white ruffle dress. i think i wont be able to sew and make dresses in this lifetime. . but u've inspired me to be more creative, and not just be wrapped up in my problems and over-all life. also, where i live, we've no larabars and im a hopeless cook :D but i picked up my camera again in the last few days... and have found myself going back to trees, clouds, sunshine, birds, and butterflies. . i feel happy reading ur blog. i admire how u make life look so beautiful, and make me believe in it. Lord bless u and ur family. thank you :)
