Boy's Coat Refashion

I saw this little suit jacket at a thrift store yesterday and immediately fell in love with the print. Of course, it was a boys jacket, and about two sizes too big for my daughter, but I bought it anyway (for 75 cents!), in hopes that I could make something of it.

Here is what it looked like when I bought it....

...and here is what I made!

A cute little vest for my daughter, in just the right size! I took off the sleeves and a couple of inches off the top, sewed the top sections back together in a more vest-y shape, took in the sides a little, added a couple of darts, and put some lace on the edge.

I also added a little accent on the back, although you can't see it very well in this picture.

My daughter, modeling it for me. Believe it or not, this is the best picture I got of her!

Clothing refashioning is one of my favorite things to do, because usually I can use parts of the garment that are already hemmed, or elastic that's already sewn in, and, well......it's easier! :o)
