Before and After: Frumpy Dress!

Frumpy navy blue corduroy dress from thrift store: $1
~
To fun little ruffle vest!
All I did was hack off the bottom (then add a little of the extra fabric to the waistline, above the ruffles because I'm tall and it needed to be a little longer), take in the sides, hem, and cinch the neckline a little. Super easy!

If I may say, it would probably look cuter on someone who wasn't quite as hip-y as I am. Like, perhaps, a runway model. :o)

  4. I just have to say, all I've been doing all night is staring at that perfect vest with that perfect peach-ish shirt. And I'm still hating you for making the very thing I've wanted all my life! But, alas, it won't fit. My life is over. If you can't find me tomorrow, you'll know why. ;)

  5. I saw your post on Wadrobe Refashion. This is gorgeous and it looks adorable on you especially with the bow tie. I'm a sucker for any kind of peplum.

  7. If i knew you irl I'd be stealing this from your closet in a heartbeat. God didn't really give me hips and childbirth gave me just enough to hold my pants up without a belt some of the time. So I can use all the help I can get in the hip department LOL
I looooove what you did with the neckline there.

  8. I love it! Nice work! And your hips look fine. I am hip-y too and was happy to see that maybe I could wear it without looking too huge. Thanks for sharing a great idea!

  14. I came over from wardrobe refashion. This is terrific. I always pass those types of jumpers up. Now I'll be seeing them in a whole new light!

  16. That is amazing! I can't believe you made that from that dress...

and in my opinion, it looks better on you than it would on a runway model. lol They aren't REAL - haha. It looks great!

Wish I could alter my clothes...

  19. Very cute! It's really funny; I recently refashioned an almost identical dress, but took it in a different direction and made it into a mini-dress. Your post just reminded me that I haven't shared it yet. I love how you reworked the neckline on yours!

  20. Well I love the look, but if you're calling this a tutorial, a little more detailed how-to info would be very much appreciated by the less intuitive like me. ;]

  21. Haha, goodness, no. If I do a tutorial I always try to go into detail and take photos. I was just explaining how I did it to emphasize how easy it was! Maybe I will do a tutorial sometime though!
