Don't worry, I told the little devil "no" :o)

Don't you??
I seriously live in them in the spring/summer time.

This is one that I made for a darling reader, Irma, who asked if I would be willing to do a tutorial on one of these little layered skirts so she could make one for her daughter. She even sent me the extra-wide elastic, because they don't sell it where I live! So sweet!
I fully intended to do a tutorial.
But time got the best of me, and I ended up just making the skirt for her daughter :o) (I hope she likes it!) As soon as I finished it and tried it on, the little devil on my shoulder (yes, preacher's wives have those, too!) said "Keep it, Disney!! You can tell her you had a house fire and the skirt went up in flames!".
I love it.
a. lot.

I don't know why I spilled 90's on these photos....that's late-night Photoshop for you! :o)

Anyway, do think I should still do a tutorial for one? Would anyone else find that useful?
I don't have any more elastic, but I can fake it with a t-shirt waistband. (Love those!)

*Oh, and by the way! I don't normally wear skirts this short, I guess it doesn't work as well on a tall person! :o) I think I'll add another couple of ruffles to mine.

P.S. I hope this post finds everyone well and cheerful! :o)

Soooo cute and I love wearing dresses and skirts but since I am nursing my little baby dresses don't work too well, but skirts do, but my closets only got a few so I really need some more skirts. So please share the tutorial with us so I can make one for myself! (and I might make one for my five year old as well since it is such a pretty skirt...) :-)

  40. Yes, yes, yes!
Your site has inspired an idea for our school's silent auction. We are going to do a buy in party called Project Runway Day. It's in the planning stages, but we are hoping to take the girls to the thrift store and teach them how to repurpose sweaters, tanks, etc, make elastic headbands and belts. We were also tinkering with the idea of having the girls pick out some jersey to make the easy jersey skirt. :) (I think we might be the ones doing the sewing on that one....)

    ReplyDelete
  41. My daughter saw that and said "I want one!!!" I replied "me too!" So I hope that answers your question for our family!! We heart it!!!

  94. I'm an Italian girl (35 years old... Is it right to say "girl"?) and please forgive my English, especially written English. It's about 5 months that every day I click on you web site and look at the beatiful things you made. And beatiful pictures too!! I'd like very much doing something with my hand but I dont have a sewing machine.. Last week I was buying one but there were so many types of sewing machine that I did not take a decision. And for a beginner like me It's better to start with a used-one machine to try and see.. Thank you for the attention. Bye bye. Claudia
