Happy (late) Memorial Day!

Hello!!

I hope everyone had a great weekend, and if you're in the U.S., I hope you had a great Memorial Day! I do hope we all took time to remember what the holiday is intended for. Whether or not you agree with the idea of going to war, I'm sure that we can all agree that those who lost their lives fighting for their beliefs deserve honor!

We were invited to dinner four times this weekend! I gained five pounds (seriously!), but it was worth it for the company. :O) It was also a pretty sad weekend in our household, but sad things aren't fun to talk about, so we'll move on to crafts!

You'd think that after (unintentionally) taking almost a week off from blogging, I'd have millions of projects to boast of, but in reality the only thing I made were these "peony" hair clips:

And I'm not sure if they even count, because I don't have the actual clips to put them on. Haha. :o) Anyone know where to get those?
I didn't quite have the chance to photograph the steps last night, but I'd be happy to throw together a quick tutorial if anyone needs it. Just let me know!

So, anyway, hello again! I missed you all. And I hope I didn't scare anyone by being away so long! I didn't plan to be. :o)

  1. What cute clips! Whenever I make hair accesorizes I use tape to attach the flower to the clip--don't tell anyone. And {hugs) about whatever the sad thing was,

Thanks for your time and effort. I love your blog!

  13. I haven't commented ever before, but I LOVE your blog! My husband and I are missionaries at language school in Costa Rica and I must confess that I live my crafting/sewing life vicariously through you! I have NO sewing machine or readily available material (no old clothes hanging around here!) or elastic (my recent sad discovery as I have a TON of old tights that are obviously too hot to wear here and I'm dying to make the knee high socks.). So, thanks so much for allowing me to at least see the steps and experience the joy of a thing of beauty created! As for the clips (I used to sell hairbows in the States) the best deal is by far at Sally's Beauty...it's a box of like 500 alligator clips for I think around 5 or 6 dollars. You would have as many clips as you needed for the myriad of things you could ever hope for...or you could talk to a friend about splitting them...250 is still alot of hairbows. :P Good luck....I think I would also put a safety pin on it and make a broach for all those cute shirt dresses and scarfs we know you have lying around! MANY blessings and keep on creating! :P

  25. I always make hair clips for fun!

my hair is super thick and I use the barette kinds... not the ones that flip back and forth, but they're like little rectangles that clip shut. those might be good for staying in little girl hair, too! I get mine at hobby lobby :)

  27. Disney, our weekend was a little sad too. Sending good thoughts your way. The hair clips are adorable! I bet there is a way to hook a hair band to it so you could wear it on ponytails! My granddaughter is one and just getting enough hair to put in little piggy tails. I could just see her wearing those pretty clips in her hair! Yes, a tutorial, please!

  29. I just recently got 100 clips for 8 bucks -that's WITH shipping- off of eBay! I won't advertise the seller's name here, but if you want it, I'm more than happy to share with you! They have them in different sizes and they also sell them in smaller quantities. I got them for quilting though, but I might make some hair clips with them too.

  33. I'm with everyone else who said Sally's, that's where I get my hairclips. And my nail polish! :D As a prego right now it's not like I can make a commitment to pretty clothes or even necessarily shoes (who knows if my feet will swell, the horror)so instead I indulge in pretty nailpolishes! I was there just two days ago and got an adorable bubblegum pink, a pretty French Manicure pink, and a sassy coral red. Happy little things, and all on clearance! :) You should buy your clips at Sally's and indulge in some happy little things. <3 *hugs* over the sads.

  51. They are awesome!! I'm going to my Mom's house and stealing some of her scraps to make these :)
We actually bought her nylon chiffon from the exact same etsy store :) It's hard to get nylon chiffon in australia and the lady from that store is soo wonderful :) And that is also a very clever idea to put the snap on the clip. :D
