Book Art

You've seen book art like this before, I'm sure. I love it!
Etsy had a shop featured today with tons of prints for sale that I absolutely thought were so fun. If I could, I would buy these and cover my walls with them:

As I was drooling, I realized that we could make these in like, five seconds!

If you don't already have an old book to use, check out a yard sale or thrift store for a large dictionary or something like that. I happen to have this old book that I--brace yourselves antique lovers--tore a couple of pages out of. (It's my book, I can do that.) :o)

Use the pages in your printer like any old sheet of paper and print some silhouettes that catch your eye.
I chose some nautical pictures to go in my bathroom, my current work in process.

Oh, how happy they make me!

I'm planning to cover the walls with different photos of that lovely, maritime nature. :O)
I really love the bold look of frame-covered walls!

  58. Love your pictures. Can't wait to try one! Target had newsprint wrapping paper in the dollar section. Book lovers could use that instead of destroying a book. :) You can read about my project with the newsprint paper: http://organized31.blogspot.com/2012/09/tuna-box-cd-dvd-holder.html

  59. I fell in love with these when I saw them too!! I am planning on doing this with vintage sheet music.

I was wondering if you made sure to find pictures with a transparent background? I was thinking that the white background would print. The woman from the Etsy shop told me printers don't print white, but the guy from the print store told me that the white does print sometimes.

Either way I taught myself how to remove the white background with the free paint.net. Good to know. I'm just wondering if I'm doing all the work for nothing. I can't test it because I don't own a printer.

Let me know if you get time.

    Thanks,
    Stacy

P.S. Here is the link on how to make your background transparent for anyone who wants it.
