A Little More Foxy?
I wanted to make a little stuffed fox. It was so cute in my imagination, and actually I was fairly pleased with the way it turned out. (Other than the fact that I forgot to add a tail!)
But then I showed it to my husband and the conversation went something like this:
me: "Look! I made this! Can you tell what it is?"
husband: "Er, um, hmm.....uh, I don't know?"
me: "(frown) It's a fox!!"
husband: "Oh! Yeah! That's what I thought it was." :O)
So I went back to the sewing room and made a few tweaks, and this is how it came out; a little more foxy?
(It has a tail!)
Something in me still likes the pink one, probably because it's pink and polka-dotted. And I think I like the nose on the pink one a little better.
Anyway, I was going to make a pattern to share with you, but I guess I need to know whether to call it a fox or a cat? :o) What does it look like to you?
It's definately a fox! :) That tail is super cute. I love the brown one, but agree with you about the nose.
ReplyDeleteHaha it is a cute fox!
ReplyDeleteMore fox than cat. I had to re-check the pictures when you suggested it looks like a cat. But without that stereotypical loopy W shaped cat mouth, it definitely screams fox. Well done, it's adorable!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fox alright! I prefer the brown one but with the nose of the first one with the uneven edges. It's much nicer!
ReplyDeleteIt's a fox! I would make a cat more rounded, and cosy, whilst a fox is a bit more angular and feral.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fox! But I too like the nose on the pink one better. And the ears. I think the skinnier ears on the pink one are more fox-like than the brown.
ReplyDeleteI think that's an adorable fox! It reminds me of my dog (the brown one, obviously lol!) - I have a shiba inu, and we call him "dox" because he looks like a cross between a dog and a fox.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! Its definitely foxy! Cant wait for the pattern!
ReplyDeleteI probably would have guessed cat if I'd just seen the pink one. But the brown one definitely makes me think fox! (and the tail is ADORABLE!)
ReplyDeleteADORABLE... Love it
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a very fun fox to me! I love it! :)
ReplyDeletethey both look foxy to me! I think the lady fox needs a bow though :)
ReplyDeletethey're so cute! I can tell it's a fox.
ReplyDeleteIt's very cute. I think it looks like a fox.
ReplyDeleteIt is totally a fox. I love the pink one too, but I think the panel on the tummy makes it look more foxy somehow. Love the tail too.
ReplyDeleteI asked my 4 year old what it was and even she knew it was a fox! :)
ReplyDeletetotally a fox! A cat would have whiskers after all, and no pointy nose. Very cute!
ReplyDeletesounds like a conversation i would have with my hubby:) it is totally a fox and i like the pink one better too, tail-less and all!
ReplyDeleteFor sure a fox! And I think they are adorable! The ears, the nose and the tail make it a fox! ~J
ReplyDeleteThe pink polka dot one is super cute...add a pink and white furry tail to it and it would totally lookk like a fox!
ReplyDeleteSo foxy!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely foxy! the brown one only looks more "foxy" because of the colour being more realistic. But who says softies need to be realistic!?!
ReplyDeleteVery cute and fun!
It definitely looks like a fox! The nose gives it away.
ReplyDeleteDefinetly a FOX...
ReplyDeleteF-O-X
Have you ever seen "You've got Mail" with Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks... Tom Hanks' last name in the movie is Fox and his small kidbrother spells the name in the bookshop of Meg Ryan... I just thought of that when I wrote Fox...
F-O-X.. Lovely Movie...
Catrin: That's one of my all-time favorite movies! I've seen it a million times. :o)
ReplyDeleteIt is a fox... definitely a fox. A cute fox too ^_^
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely a FOX... and I LOVE the pink one :0)
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a fox. I clicked on the picture and asked my husband what it was.... he got it first guess! You did good! I like it a lot. and the tummy and tail make it look more like a fox, not to mention the brown color. But of course the pink one is cute too!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a fox and I want a tutorial!
ReplyDeleteI think they are both darling!
ReplyDeleteI definitely like the second fox. I think its the tummmy that does it for me.
ReplyDeleteOhmygoodness, that is freaking adorable!!! Love, love, love it....and definitely a fox. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the pink one. I may be bias to the pink polka dots. Polka dots hold a place in my heart. They are just fun.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Very Foxy :D
I like the skiddywompus-ness of the nose on the pink one. A little whimsical and imperfect, my favorite. I say put that nose on the brown and call it good!
ReplyDeleteI have that same conversation with my husband A LOT lol. I think it looks great and I prefer the pink one too.
ReplyDeletexxx
Oh, DEFINITELY a fox!! So adoreable!! Can't wait for the pattern!! I would love to make some for my kids!! Thanks for sharing your talent!! :D
ReplyDeleteSooo cute! I think after seeing the brown one, the pink one becomes definitely identifiable as a fox!
ReplyDeleteTotally a fox! And super cute to boot :-) The pointy snout is a dead giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI like the pink polka dot one, too :-)

I agree with Bethany- the pointy snout is a dead giveaway that this is a fox. However with some slight facial modifications people could turn it into a cat or pointy eared dog if they prefer.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fox. Foxes have pointy noses, cat's don't.
ReplyDeleteHusbands are funny. I get this often too. I made a bird and my husband thought it was a whale. haha. oh whale :-) anyways, I totally think it looks like a FOX. F. O. X. fox. (love the movie "You've Got Mail"). Great job sister! a pattern would be fantastic! and just so you know I am so happy to see you posting more often. I was super sad about this time last year...
ReplyDeletedefinitely a fox, Disney! and such a sweet one too :) Love the patterns and the tail. I especially like the extra touch of the felt tummy on the orange one :)

I like the pink one's nose better, too. Both are great, the pink one especially because it's so inventive and precious - and you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, how did you just happen to have perfect brown fabric for this? That NEVER happens to me. I must need a bigger stash. : P
That is adorable!!! And it is definately a fox :) I'd love the pattern, I have to attend a baby shower and I would love to make this as part of the gift!!
ReplyDeleteLove the fox! It is so cute and I love its tail. I can't wait to get the pattern!
ReplyDeleteMy 3 year old daughter was looking over my shoulder and said, "Mom, what kind of animal is that?"
ReplyDeleteMe: "What do you think it is?"
Her: "A fox. Mom, what's the pink one?"
Me: "What do you think it is?"
Her: "A fox."
my 3 year old caught me looking at this and said, "ahaha! a fox!" and "can i have the pink one?"
ReplyDeleteso there you go!
DEF a fox! And with my last name being fox I NEED THIS!
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously cute. And they say the fox IS the new owl. Foxes are cool and yours is adorable Disney.

Super cute! I like the nose in the pink one too. I bet you could make it look a bit more foxy if you wrapped the tail around the side to the front, you know?
ReplyDeleteI think these are both adorable. I immediately wanted to make one for my daughter but I think she has enough lovies! maybe a gift for a niece... :)
ReplyDeleteOh I love them!!! So Foxy, Foxy!!! ;o) Could you add a tail to the pink one? {I have to admit it's my favorite!Love Pink!}
