How's your new year going? Ours is going pretty great! I jokingly told my husband that this year he's going to have to start being my life coach. I need someone to show me how to be organized! So he promptly sat down and made me a list of all the imperative tasks for each day and when would be the best time to do them. According to the list, right now I should be...(looks at list)...homeschooling Paige. :o) Look, Paige! Today's lesson is on how to write a blog post! (Hehe.)
So how about a little tutorial today? I made this headwrap last night and I wanted to share it with you. I don't want to toot my own horn, but I love this little thing!
Made from a hand-me-down sweater that didn't fit, it only has 3 steps, and hardly a stitch sewn!
Want to try one? (Yes, Disney, we do!)
Great!
- Cut a long rectangle from an old sweater. Your desired size + 1/2" seam allowance. Mine was 5"x21".
- Hem the sides. You can try this on the sewing machine (with a zigzag stitch), but sewing a knitted sweater can be pretty difficult to get good results with, so I used this fabric glue I had on hand. If you choose to glue it, try to get a washable fabric glue.
- pin the ends, right sides together and sew with a zigzag stitch.
Take care not to let the ends shift so they match up nicely. And you're done!
Wear and enjoy your toasty ears!
I hope you find a few minutes to make one! It's so snuggly to wear. And somehow I like it a little better than a hat. By the way, this could easily be a headband if you changed the width to 3" or so!

I really love this headwrap. It looks very cute and special. But I would never cut such a wonderful sweater. At the moment I do love wearing such sweaters.

This is hilarious! I put on a sweater that I kinda didn't like anyway today and found out that, hey, it was too small. "That's okay," I thought, "I can now cut it up guilt-free and refashion it into one of those knitted headwrap I've been seeing everywhere!" Now I read this and really feel like the universe is telling me something :)

What a wonderful idea...if you didn't have a sweater to cut up...you could buy it used from Goodwill or another store of similar type. Wondering...does your mother still have the pattern for the flower. I love it.

I found you through Pinterest, so even though I'm thinking "spring" now I'm pinning this for next year! This could also be made with a lining of lightweight fleece and then you don't have to worry about the raw edges or using an itchy sweater! Great idea, thanks for sharing!
