I never comment on your stuff b/c I think that since you have a billion followers and a billion followers on pinterest, you knew you were amazing. That's why I commented on Paige's craft. My daughter is two and I get stopped on the street ALL THE TIME by people telling me how gorgeous she is. I would love for someone, anyone to tell me I'm pretty, but they never do. You're adorable and amazingly talented and God gave you great girl. Hope the party was wonderful.

What an interesting insight.

I confess that I've been talking (whining) to my husband for a few weeks about how I don't get very many comments on my blog these days. I've been fretting about why no one seems interested anymore, wondering if maybe I've lost my touch. I never would have thought that maybe it could taken as a compliment. Thanks for helping me see the bright side of things. And thank you for thinking of my daughter in such a kind way.

And mostly, I wanted to say:

You are so, so beautiful.

I wanted to make sure you knew.
Love,
Disney

  5. Thank you so much for posting this! Not that it's good but I'm happy to know I'm not alone! My blog is nowhere as big as yours but it's been getting a ton of new followers lately, but no one has been commenting!! I will be so proud of a new craft and I'll have like 3 comments!? What is up!? I get soooo many pins and I'm wondering if ppl re just silently pinning, so lonely out here is craft land haha!!

  6. So sweet! Thanks for sharing. And now I know, even blog superstars appreciate comments, too! I make it a point to comment on smaller blogs, but I never thought of it this way. You and Paige are beautiful!

  7. I, like Megan, never comment for the same reason. I just assume you already get tons of sweet comments. But just so you know, I enjoy reading each of your posts! And you and your daughter are gorgeous.

  8. Oh goodness. Thank you guys so much. I really wasn't meaning for that to sound like a comment-begging post. Mostly I just wanted Megan to know she was special! But I appreciate your words so much!

  9. I think blogs used to be such a novelty so everyone would comment. Now people follow a ton of blogs through a blog reader and forget to comment or they pin it and leave it. I do think you have tons of readers but less interaction- kind of sad but it's hard to know the solution. You're as wonderful as always- I think the medium is changing and I think pinterest and blog readers have a lot to do with that.

  10. Here is another quite follower from Holland. I love evrything you make. And Paige's too of course...

  11. Disney,
I follow your blog for several years, all the way from Israel and always enjoy your posts and beautiful spirit (and you are so pretty too!!!).

  12. I also never comment because I was afraid I would bother you or maybe you wouldn't even see it because you are a famous blogger and you must get a million a day. I have been lurking here for a year; now that I know you like it I will comment always! <3

  14. And this is from Mucia, Spain. I just commented a few times, but I come in everyday just to check if there is something new (in a break in the job from my mobile, y the queue of the grocery, in the hairdress saloon, resting in the beach) or simply with my laptop, in my sofa, with a cup of tea, at the end of the day. Every single day, when I come to check my email, then check your blog. Sometimes are new posts and I enjoy every little word and pic, sometimes not, so I go to read again older ones... Sometimes because I am in the way to make any of your refashions, sometimes because I have an idea of my own and I am looking for some inspiration. I would like to be your neighbourg, or a good friend, because in that way, I just had to invite you to have a cup of coffee and some cookies with me, while I show you a fabric and tell what do you think I can create with, or look at this tee...how can I turn it in a brand new dress for my 5 years old child... In some way, thanks to internet, we are those neighborgs, or old friends, and I only have to knock on your blog's door to get inspired. I allways loved the small title of your blog: a craft and ispiration... You inspires a lot of people from all around the world everyday. My pinterest is full from your ideas, and I am glad that I can share your work to inspire my followers. Have you ever seen that small screen on the left bottom in pinterest when you pin something? There says: other pins from... When I pin from your blog, there appears: other pins from ruffless and stuff and it is pretty full of your images, your ideas, the beautiful paige's face... You'd be so proud, because we carry you on our hearts and minds. Just think that times and technologies are changing, and sometimes the indivifdual is alienated by the mass. Me, as an individual, don't comment on your posts, but the mass speaks when pins and repins again and again your work. But you reminded us how important are those little works to support the aim to keep going. Just and example. Now I am living in Spain with my child. My husband, due to the crisis, had to go to live in UK to look for a job. If everything goes ok (and I hope and pray for that) we will have to go there with him leaving our family and friends. But, in the meantime, I feel so alone, and life is harder...and no one have a support word for me because they say that I am strong, and a hang on... And think that talking about I will be more sad... And sometimes, to talk, to have the opportunity to express yourself means the difference between feeling alone or feeling supported and encouraged. You're right... Even being a famous blogger, even being pinned every day, there is something good in the comments, because sometimes is hard even to keep walking in life... And even if we have the blessing of having a beautiful child, we need to know that we're beautifyl too, and even if I think that my tee refashion is cool, I need to know that someone out there thinks it rocks...
So, thank you Disney for open my mind one more day, and thank you Megan for your comment... You commented to all of our hearts.

  15. Hi from Bulgaria :) Even though I've been following your blog for 3years, I never commented for all the reasons above (thanks everyone for summing them up). Now I'll know better :) You've been such an inspiration and it's so wonderful sweet Paige is following the same track. Be happy!

  16. hi from australia, your blog is a recent discovery, and though i'm too young to have kids, I wish I had a little girl so we can have fun making stuff from your blog. i particularly like the raincloud mobile as i like it when it rains too :)

  17. Hi from Kenya (Africa),
I have been reading your blog since 2010. When you almost closed it down I was devastated and am happy to read about your craft projects and your beautiful girl. I am inspired by your faith in God and that it's easy to see you are a nice person from your posts.
Keep it coming and though some of us don't comment we read your blog.
    Lots of love,
    Jackie.

  18. Disney- you've inspired a LOT of not-so-crafty people to pick up that needle and sew! a BIG thank you! :) i've linked to your blog umpteen number of times! :) thanks for making pretty things to make look so easy!! xoxo.

  19. I'm not from an exotic locale, but I think this is my first time commenting on your blog, though I've been following it for some time :) I love your creative mind & beautiful photography & life of faith...but I think what I love most is what you share about your family. I'm a Korean American and my siblings both married people from other cultures, so I love hearing about your beautiful family!

  20. Oh- I visit all the time and seldom leave a comment either. I think that some of us smaller bloggers just figure the bigger bloggers KNOW hey are good...lol I guess, in the end, we are all human and need to know that we are appreciated.

Blessings to you this Memorial Day weekend- xo Diana

  21. Rest assured that we all still read and love your blog. I stumbled upon it back when you had taken your temporary hiatus. I read through all your back posts, then bookmarked your site (this was before I knew how to subscribe), and every few weeks I came back hoping you'd come back. Can I tell you how happy I was when I saw that you were posting again? And of all the other blogs in my Reader, yours is the only one that I literally say "Ooooh!" in excitement when I see that a new post is up. You do a fantastic job, always! God has blessed you with talent, and you are certainly reaching many with it. :)

  22. You definitely do not go unnoticed! I love stopping by and reading through your posts anytime I see you've posted something new! :]

  23. Disney, you are the model that we not-so-well-known craft bloggers look up to.

And you are lovely in every way.

  24. Yeah for Megan!

Amen to what everyone else has said.

Disney, I recently read another blog refer to you as the sweetest, kindest blogger on the web. I wish I could remember where so I could refer you to it. I love reading your gentle voice. Thank you for sharing with us.

  25. Wow! You have comments from all over the world! How fun! I'm only from a small town in CA (and a small blog) but wanted to pop in to say hello. Love your blog! I don't always have the time to comment anymore since I'm usually checking blogs while feeding my new baby, but I love all of your projects!

  26. May I add a great big "DITTO!" to all the comments so far?
comments are down all over the place, but I hope you won't be discouraged...be confident that you are the coolest kid on the black, 'cause you pretty much are! Love your wonderful mix of projects and thoughtful moments from life. Plus, you take some of the most gorgeous pics in blogland.

And I loved this great, kind post to Megan that started this whole thing off!

  27. I raise my hand. I am guilty. I have your blog on my Google Reader and I read and view each post. I enjoy your blog so much (and sweet Paige too). I know that my viewing on GR without actually going into your blog will not show as even visiting. I'll try to do better. Please continue to blog.

  29. Great post, we all like to hear 'it' every once in a while. You are an inspiration, we're here reading, just lazy is all ;)

  30. I never comment either but I ALWAYS read! And I LOVE the things you post, but mostly I read because of you--it's clear from your writing that you're a wonderful woman who loves God and her family and cares about those around her as well! Your blog is a joy to read and always makes me feel good :) And by the way, Paige is gorgeous--but it's so obvious where she gets it from, because you are a beautiful woman too! And don't worry, we (your readers) still love you!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Wow. I am so grateful to you. I am so glad that you all still enjoy this blog. Please don't feel guilty about not commenting. Who has the time to comment on every single blog post? As long as I know that you're still liking it, I'll be here. :o)

To hear some of you call me a "famous blogger" sounds like the craziest thing in the world. I'm just a random girl living in a desert town with a car that barely runs who likes to make things and take pictures of them. But my favorite part about making them is talking to you guys about it. :o) So thanks for popping in when you can!

And really, I mostly just wanted to tell Megan she is beautiful.

  32. I also never comment but I simply love your blog! You have so many great ideas and such a good eye for beauty. And positive energy that emanates from your posts :)

  33. I LOVE your blog. It's a special treat to read. I don't comment because I read blogs on my phone and it's not easy to comment that way---but it shouldn't be an excuse. I love your creativity and your photography. Please don't stop blogging!

  34. what an amazing and sweet girl you are disney! (and your blog is awesome too! :)

  36. I am guilty. I have your blog on my Google Reader and I read and view each post on GR. Google Reader makes it easy for us to follow a lot of blogs, but harder for the bloggers they get a lot less visitors due to GR
    I really enjoy your blog.

    Greetings from holland

  37. I LOVE your blog! I rarely comment because I felt the same as Megan. However, comments are so encouraging! On my blog simplyshabbygirl.blogspot.com
I barely ever get comments but when I do it makes my day! There is no point to blogging if you don't know whether or not people are reading your stuff! Thanks for having such a wonderful blog and for always inspiring me and making me smile!
P.S this is the longest comment I have ever done! :)

  38. I love your blog, but I always feel weird leaving comments because I'm not a crafter and rarely make the crafts you post. I mainly love seeing the beautiful things you make and trying to convince myself that I can do easy crafts, too. And you and Paige are both lovely. I've thought that since I first started following your blog years ago. :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. I agree too! I almost comment so often and just figure anything I say is just the same thing someone else already said. LOVE this blog :) I mostly love seeing adorable clothing updates for you and Paige that stays modest. I have two little girls and that's already a challenge shopping haha

  40. AND!!! I also agree with Disney!!! Megan, one of my favorite verses ever is Psalm 45:10-11

Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear:Forget your people and your father’s house. The king is enthralled by your beauty;honor him, for he is your lord

You ARE beautiful. Completely. Entirely. and made in His image.

  41. I seriously love your blog! I con't even count how many of your crafts I have done. You are actually the one who got me started sewing and I haven't stopped since! Keep up the great work!!!

  42. Megan--you had a hand in creating that little girl so if she gets a compliment so are you! She is a reflection of you. Sounds like you and your daughter are absolutely beautiful. Enjoy being her role model and parent!

  43. I'm guilty of never commenting (I don't know why) but I follow your blog and pinterest boards faithfully because I love all of your great ideas and you are wonderful inspiration to me!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!

  44. I am guilty of not commenting, but I love your blog too. You are such a positive person and seem like such a loving wife and mother. Thanks for sharing your world with us.

  45. Such an insightful comment from Megan... and your response is so sweet. I hope she reads it. It's a good reminder to me to keep commenting, and saying kind words to people I meet. Everyone always needs a complement!

I feel the same way as you when I work hard and get no comments on my posts, but I just want you to know I follow you in google reader and read every one of your posts. You inspired me to start sewing about a year ago, and I sometimes imagine that we are friends. lol ;) You write in such a personal manner, I'm sure MANY people feel that way! Keep up the good work!

  46. I have found myself getting lazy with comments because I usually read posts in my reader and (unless I'm just technology challenged) don't usually click through to comment, even when I kind of want to!
And I always want to when I read your blog! I love all your sweet, simple ideas and lovely photos. I suppose I should take the extra few moments more often to let people know when I appreciate their stuff! Not because I have to, but because I'd like you to know you brighten my day!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Disney, I too have been following your blog for a long time now and have never commented... in fact yours was one of the first blogs I discovered and still it is at the top of my reading list.

I guess I never comment because I assume you already get 20 billion comments per day. And let me tell you, girl, you are not 'losing your touch'... rather, I think you have become such a fixture to the crafty blog community... you are an institution! You know, one of those things that is so established everyone forgets it's there, but totally takes its' presence for granted.

Your blog is great because I feel like I know you from reading it, and because every project you feature, even if it might be a common one, you put your own stamp on it and interpret it in such a unique, fun, and easy way that I am always interested in what you have to share. Even freezer paper stencils become something unique in your hands.

You're such an inspiration. Please don't ever stop doing what you do.

Oh, and you're BEAUTIFUL too! :)

  48. Oh dear, should I be tearing up right now?! I do agree with comments though and the way they're changing. Kind of sad, really. A comment is worth a thousand pins, hehe :).
