Current Favorites (Happy Weekend!)
I had something fun to share today, but it didn't work out just yet, so...shameless filler post! I thought I'd share a few things that I've been obsessing over lately!
I love them! I'll take navy and tan and...all the other colors.
Anything in Mint. I think we're all obsessing over mint this season. I can't get enough!

Paige and I have been reading them from the library and they are so cute. My favorite is "The Heart and the Bottle". (Prepare to cry!) "Stuck" is another cute one.

The other day I played this song and Paige said: "I kind of don't like when you play it so much, Mama. Kind of like how you don't like it when I say stuff over and over again?". (BUSTED!) Sorry, Paige. Mommy gets to have a double-standard every once in a while. :o)

I actually love my hair most when it's air-dryed and unstyled. It's not conventional, but, you know...I think it's pretty!

P.S. On a totally random note, one dear reader expressed some concern on the last post that I slightly embellish Paige's statements. In case anyone else was thinking that, I just want to clear up that I haven't ever done that. I would never take away from the cuteness by adding my own words! :o) Paige talks a little differently because she's around adults and older kids a lot, that's all. ...Just so you know. :o)
But she's still all kid! See?

Love everything about this post ~ especially the hair au naturel! With three boys, crazy schedules and a new puppy, that is the only way my hair is!
ReplyDeleteAppalling that someone would question you snd your daughter's abilities. Perhaps if more people spent such quality time with their kids as you do with Paige, we'd have a much smarter and happier younger generation! Hugs!
My mother always taught me that if I didn't have something nice to say I shouldn't say it - well, I guess "anonymous" didn't spend the quality time we did with our parents. My 5 year old daughter has quite an expanded vacabulary like Paige's due to my choice to speak to her as an adult since she was little. Paige is adorable and I hope the comment didn't dampen yours or Paige's spirits. Keep up the wonderful posts (both of you) because I love reading them and looking at the cute crafts my daughter and I can try. Keep making us smile. :) Laura and Madelin

ReplyDeleteI'm loving that mints a popular color, too! It's one of my favorite colors to wear :) I also wanted to comment re: your little one. People have said the same to my sister. My niece is five and talks like she's fourteen most days. But she is definitely a kid. Just last night, my niece asked me if she could run in the yard, for no reason. My niece may talk like a young-adult most days, but she's definitely still a kid :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHa, I have a 5-year-old boy and know how grown-up they can sound sometimes. They learn all the big words from their mamas. I'll have to look for those books at our library. I'm always looking for something new and cute to read the boys.

ReplyDeleteOh I believe you, I work with Kindergarten and I hear their conversations all the time, little kids say the funniest things that's why I love them so much. =) Love the salt water sandals!

ReplyDeleteSeriously what went through my head upon seeing your post: "SALTWATER SANDALS?!?!" I had no idea they still existed, my last pair was purchased when I was 9 (purple, btw). My grandmother used to buy me a new pair every summer, so when I got them, I knew it was the beginning of a great warm season. I am so looking for these now. :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids are so observant and they use "big" word often because they hear their parents using them. Paige is adorable and it is evident that she is creative and so smart. I love your blog, thanks for sharing and making my day brighter.

ReplyDeleteI am the daughter of a pastor and grown up around adults. A pastor's family is a completely different animal than most people think. So, I would totally ignore the comment and enjoy the comments from your daughter. :) I really enjoy your posts (and Paige's too!) The Lord bless you!!
ReplyDeleteDisney, Where do you get the, "Saltwater Sandals?" I work with Pre-Kindergarteners and have to wear sandals that have straps on the back, those are adorable. Like I said I work with Pre-Kindergarteners 4-5 year olds. It always amazes me the vocabulary my children have. If you take the time to speak to children without baby talking, they will have a more grown-up vocabulary.

Its the result of being around adults, talking early, and the fact that I talk nonstop with her because some days she's the only person I speak with and I would lose it if I didn't chat it up with someone. ;) ~Robin~

I have been following for ages but rarely ever comment ( I am totally guilty of laziness, sorry) I love the sandals, the music and mint. And yes I too have a 4 year old and people will comment that she speaks like an older child. I think it is because I am the person she talks to the most. Even her pre school teacher talks to the whole class like short grown ups and I have seen all of them getting so much better at articulating ideas

ReplyDeleteI think it's adorable that Paige uses big words -- I did that when I was a kid, because my dad always used big words. :)
ReplyDeleteBig thumbs up to Miss Paige for utilizing her vocabulary! Woo Hoo! My little girl uses big words too, and she (and you too, Paige) will appreciate that you have so many words at your disposal to articulate your brilliant self when you're older.

My oldest daughter was an only child for seven years and let me tell you not only did she have an expansive vocabulary by the age of four she was also able to identify and name her own feelings. There are several reasons why, I believe, this was the case. 1. She rarely watched any television. 2. I had been reading to her since she was in my belly and we continued to read every single night once she was born. 3. I spent a lot of time, and still do, speaking to her in an adult way. I didn't baby talk her and I always taught her new words and explained them. When you communicate with your children and don't shove them in front of a tv it's amazing how they can flourish. Spending time with your children, reading with them, crafting with them, etc can have a HUGE imapct on their development...duh. Way to be tactful, you are a better person than I :) Keep up the great work mom! xoxo
