Paige's Real Life Story Book!

Last year I shared a story that I wrote and illustrated for Paige. (Here's the tutorial on how to make your own if you missed it!) It was just one of those spur of the moment ideas that I had as I was putting her to bed one night.

Well, I finally got around to having it printed in a photo book! I contacted Shutterfly to see if they would be interested in giving me a book since I'd be sharing it with all of you. They said yes! (yes!) and we finally got it in the mail a couple of days ago! It turned out so beautifully. Seriously. I loved it so much that I called my mom. It was a little pathetic.

Here's a glimpse!

I love the photo of us on the back. :o)

At the risk of sounding horribly conceited--isn't that the coolest thing ever?!?! I have to admit, when I look at it, I'm a little amazed that I made it. Seeing it in a real book form is just unbelievable. It's definitely something to hold on to and treasure. :o)

As I said in my tutorial, anyone could do thisYou definitely don't have to be an artist (I'm definitely not!) and you could even just make little stick figures to go with a story. Or regular photos! It makes such a special gift for a child.

Shutterfly makes all kind of photo books in sizes ranging from 5"x7" (wouldn't that be cute??) to 12"x12", which is what mine is. They have great templates already available, but you can customize to the moon and back to make your own. Mine was really simple, but you could go crazy with all kinds of fun details. They have wedding books, baby books, yearbooks, vacation books, story telling books. TONS of options.

So I just wanted to say:Thanks a million to Shutterfly for making this book something Paige will love for years to come! It is truly special.

Hope you're having a great weekend, everyone! Can you believe it's JUNE??

Love you,
-Disney

P.S. In case anyone is curious, you can read the whole story book here. :o)

  6. Your book turned out perfectly amazing! I have done a bunch of the Shutterfly books for different family members (with photos), but now I really want to try a hand-drawn book. Love it!

  7. Oh my goodness! I love your book! And your illustrations are darling! I need to do this. My older daughter made a storybook for my little one just out of printer paper and photos and it is showing a lot of wear. It is about how Ahnalin joined our family from China, through her big sister's eyes. I should have it printed up like yours! Thank you for showing yours.

  11. I LOVE it!!! She is a lucky little lady to have such a talented momma! I want to make one for my daughter and have my husband draw the pictures. (He's so much better). Then it would be from the both of us. :)

  12. This is ADORABLE -- and you gave me a great idea for publishing a children's book with a manuscript that was published in a children's magazine but won't be accepted by a publisher (URGH). And you are definitely an artist! If I tried to draw my own pictures, kids would laugh their heads off.

  17. I LOVE shutterfly! Since I no longer have as much time, or space, to do regular scrapbooking, I use shutterfly to make scrapbooks for my children. I take all of my photos from the previous year (uploaded monthly) and make them a book. I make one per calendar year for each child. I put them out at their birthdays so people can look though them. When they are grown they will have their very own scrapbook library/photo albums.

  22. Oh my goodness, that is so FUN! I wrote my niece a story when she was a toddler and always meant to have it turned into a book, but never got around to adding drawings. She's eight now... maybe I'll have her help me illustrate it as a summer project for us both. I feel inspired - Thanks! :)

  23. This is beautiful! I was wondering what format you uploaded each page/image to Shutterfly? Did you use the full page template to avoid conflict with their designs?
