Question for Mobile Users...

Just a quick question for those of you who check R&S on your mobile devices...

Do you prefer the mobile version(left) or the full website version(right)?

I have the blog set to show as the mobile version, but I kind of secretly don't like mobile versions of websites. I'm not sure if I just don't like it because it's different, or what. Anyway, I thought I would ask you all, since you're the ones I put this all up for. :o) I don't know why I'm agonizing over it, it probably doesn't matter too much one way or the other.

What do you think? Do you even care?

Love(love, love),
Disney

  1. If I can still see everything with the mobile site, then it's fine. Some mobile sites won't let you access the same information. Sometimes the mobile sites load faster and are easier to navigate on a small screen.

  2. I like some mobile versions. Some, like facebook, drive me batty. Also, I like to read things straight like on a normal blog, without having to reload a page, but I like the formatting of the mobile sites where you can read the print without zooming in and scrolling left to right once you get halfway through a page.

Usually though, I don't like mobile versions because they generally aren't very fast and are confusing to navigate when you use normal websites.

  3. I do not like the mobile versions of any site. In fact, if i can't switch to the full web version on a site, I don't even bother with the site. This is true whether I'm on my phone or tablet. Like indywriter said, some mobile sites just don't give you all the information.

  4. I like the full website:) I agree the mobile is faster, but when I have the time I always go to the full website.

  5. I hate mobile versions. While it seems quicker because you go to the stupid article page first it takes the same amount of time to load the page you actually want to read first. And I find scrolling down on some mobile versions is more trouble than their worth (you know the ones that let you go from page to page thumbing left or right. HATE those)

  6. the mobile is faster but it's hard to view some pictures. when you try to scroll over to view the rest of a picture it sends you to the next post.

  7. I like the full website. Whatever you decide, though, is okay with me. I won't deter me from visiting your blog. :)

  8. I like the mobile version as I can find the last post I haven't read or the one I want to get to quicker that way on the mobile. But really it's got to be your choice as either way works fine.

  9. I do NOT like the mobile version. Right now My phone is my only Internet and I ALWAYS click to see te web version!! Thanks for asking. My problem is I accidentally go to the next post when I am reading the posts somehow it thinks I am going left to right and not scrolling up and down!! Very frustrating!!!

  10. I always read from my phone so like mobile versions.
I prefer the one on the left

  11. I always change to the web version if available because I dislike the mobile version for any site. That being said, I also dislike having to scroll down to the end of the page to change it. :^\

  12. Hmm, I've never viewed your site from my phone so I had to go and check it out. I like both ways. The mobile version is easier to scroll through and find a recent posts. But, I like the option to view in full web version.

  13. Mobile all the way! But I'm using a very small screen (4.5 inches). Full web version for me is unreadable.

  14. I dont like Mobile versions. The right one is cool

  15. I have to read in mobile version, but pleanty of things dont show tht way so of it was my decision i would rather the web version, its easier to find thing s you are looking through the page or blog

  16. Mobile versions aren't the best... But I like the right version better.

  17. I'm liking the one on the left. On my phone it gives me options and doesn't take long to open. Your Oregon photo post never opened on my phone. If I want full articles I can just click and go. Great option.

  18. The full website version for sure. =0)

  19. I like the full website version. So much easier to use. "

  21. I'm a fan of the full website version of blogs. I like seeing it the same way it is online.

    ReplyDelete
  22. If the website works on a mobile device without having to be a mobile version, then I'd prefer to keep it the same as if I were seeing it on a computer, but this is just my personal preference.

  23. Ugh I major dislike the mobile versions, I always scroll down and click on the view web version links. Either way though your blog is awesome Disney.

  24. I'm kind of the same - resistent to change! So I like the full-website version! :)

  25. Full web version. Thanks for asking

  26. I much prefer the website version. It is much easier to read the whole article that way.

  27. I don't like the mobile version either. To me, it seems less personalized and more impersonal.

  28. The mobile version! I know it loses some detail from the main site, but to read the main version you have to enlarge the screen a bit to read the text, and sometimes it's enlarged too much and you have to move back and forth to read a whole line. Ugh. I still love to check the full site on the computer, but on my mobile I love that you have that option.

  29. Seriously so glad you posted this! I have agonized over the same thing for a year, I don't lik the mobile version either... Will you let us know the results?

  30. I personally prefer the full version. The mobile version misses out on so much of the personality of your blog!

  31. I like the full version. The less I have to click the better.

  32. Full version! Thanks for asking us!

  33. I don't like the mobile versions of websites. I always click on "full website" before looking at anything else. And it would be nice to not have to make a couple extra clicks.

Hah, these are the kinds of serious issues we face in our modern world. :)

  36. I prefer the mobile version (although the website design is nicer). When you quickly want to access a post on a mobile the best is to see the full post (even via Reader). I can always come back and check the details on my pc later.
Also for mobile use...do not use capcha for comment filtering...it's a pain!

  37. I prefer the full version.

  38. Website version. Thanks for asking!

  39. I like the full version. :) Oftentimes I check blogs out when I'm feeding my baby at all hours of the night (or I'm just worn out during the day) and I don't have the brainpower to figure out a different format!

  40. Full version is more fetching to the eye, like a great page of a favorite book. Also, easier to navigate between iPhone, iPad, PC, or Mac depending on where you are or who you're trying to share info with. When scrolling around archives for ideas or tutorials it is easier to find if page is familiar and full, not condensed. Thanks for asking.

  42. Well, since my opinion is the only one that really matters... :)

I was wondering why the mobile thing happenend. I use my phone way more than an actual computer, but I still prefer actual websites. So when I go on your blog (from my phone) I choose to view the full site because I like how it looks and feel that I get the real thing ;) but if you have enough people that like the mobile version then I'd stick with that as long as they know that there's an option of viewing the full version :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I've always wondered about the same thing, because it seems as though some people prefer the mobile version. I personally HATE the mobile version most of the time, and can't scroll fast enough to find the "view web version" button.

Sometimes though, when I'm looking for a specific blog post, the mobile version is nice because I don't have to scroll through a ton of pictures/posts. But that's the only reason.

I like the full web version because I can see how the blog is designed to look, and it shows all the different links and things on the sidebar. Sometimes the mobile version isn't good at displaying the images from the post and I can't see the entire image unless I scroll to the right.. but then it navigates to another post!

Also, for the blogs that have the disqus commenting system, they don't display on mobile versions properly so that's annoying.

  44. I am SO glad someone finally asked this question! I am NOT AT ALL a fan of the mobile version of websites. I feel like I'm missing out on the overall feel of the site, and I would certainly HATE to miss out on anything on your site!!! :)

  45. hate mobile versions, they are too condensed. the one on the right should be manditory LOL.

  46. Hi Disney! I prefer the mobile version. It loads faster!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I do not like mobile versions of anything. Give me the full version. Why even take the time to design a nice blog if people are not going to see the entire page the way it is meant to bee seen? The mobile version interferes with creativity. I have a Kindle Fire but I don't use it for going online. I like to see entire websites on my laptop.

  48. My vote is pro mobile. We view your site only by mobile and the mobile option allows me , with ease, to locate the last post we checked out and begin from there.
But nothing will deter us from getting our Disney fix!

  49. Hi Disney, first of all, thank you for being so thoughtful in even the little things like this. I check your blog everyday from my iPad, and I definitely prefer seeing the full versions of websites. I feel like I'm getting the real thing, I guess. Not sure why, but I certainly like full pages rather than a condensed view.

  51. Thanks for asking. :-) I always prefer the full version. When I go to sites that have mobile sites for mobile users, I find myself always trying to find the button that says, "switch to full sight". Just my 2 cents worth. :-)

  52. Yes, Thank you for asking!
    I prefer the full version!
For me the full version is easier to find what I need to, because I do it the way I did on the computer :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. I prefer the full version! Once while on the mobile version I got really confused and it easily (by accident) switched to another post while I was in the middle of a tutorial lol... Thanks for asking!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I prefer the full version too!

Do you know how to change a blog over from the mobile version to the full version?
    Thanks!

  55. I prefer the one on the right.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I like the full version, the mobile versions always make it harder to find what you want.

    ReplyDelete
  57. I would vote for the full version :D I'm not a fan of mobile versions either.. things always seems so.. squished.

  58. I prefer the full version. The other one just seems wrong (for lack of a better way to say it). Thanks for thinking of us :)

  59. I think mobile versions are the best! It only loads as a mobile version on my smart phone and the full version on my iPad. I like the full on the iPad and mobile on the tiny screen of the phone. To me it is annoying to scroll sideways and up and down to try to read the post. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  60. full. the mobile is annoying because if youre looking at a post and scroll down and accidentally go to the side it goes to the next/last post. and then you have to go back to the one you were reading and scroll all the way down to where you were being 100x more careful to go straight down. it doesnt seem like much but it just gets on my nerves and i usually just stop reading and do something else

  61. Personally I prefer the regular version, but hey, I'm not too picky, I'll take RS Amy way I can get it. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I, too, prefer the full website version. :)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I like the full version - the mobile versions rarely work the way they are supposed to on my phone and they are so sensitive to the touch, but if you set it to mobile, the viewer can still click on the link at the bottom to view the full website, so it's a win win. :D
