Our Trip to Ocean Shores!

We took the best family vacation last week!

The mere fact that we went on vacation was a little miraculous because I'm married to a workaholic. :O) God bless him. But I twisted his arm and we drove 5ish hours to the Washington coast! The cute little town of Ocean Shores. I've mentioned before that I grew up in Aberdeen and we used to hop over there quite often, so it was wonderful to go back! I just love nostalgia. I was hoping that it would be 50 degrees with a little drizzle, but unfortunately we had gorgeous and uncharacteristically warm weather! Oh well. I guess sunshine isn't the worst thing that could happen! ;o)

So this was the first time Paige had ever been to any kind of beach. She was super excited! She loved "treasure hunting" for sand dollars and sea shells and making sand castles. She and I walked down the grassy little trail to the beach every chance we could, and Paige loved wading out and letting the waves splash her. She wanted to keep walking into the ocean "until we get to Korea", but Mommy was a little tired, so we just opted to go back to the hotel and hit the jacuzzi.

Our hotel was really cute! And the friendliest staff ever. Being that it was September, it was pretty much just us and a handful of retirees. Nice! We even had the pool to ourselves. (5 times.)

We walked around town a little bit while we were there, too. I loved all the brightly colored and nautical themed shops! One thing that wasn't there, though? Starbucks!! After we drove through town the first night I thought I was going to die. What do they do for beverages there?? Sea water? :O) OK, just kidding...

I am so grateful that we got to go. It was awesome to have a little family time. And my workaholic had a great time, too. :o)

I love Washington beaches.

I love vacationing in September.

I love coming home and sharing it with you guys!

Have a great Monday!!

Love,
Disney

  2. How fun. We took our two kids to the beach for the first time over the weekend, too. Opposite side of the US from you though, SC. I was hoping to capture a photo of them seeing the big ocean for the first time like you did, but they really didn't make a big deal about it. They had a great time. Just one big sandbox and pool to them. And I think September is a great time for a vacation. Love the photos you took. So cute.

  3. Oh what a fun vacation! Thanks for sharing. We didn't get on one this year (new baby in April, and just not worth the hassle!), so I'm living ours through you! :)

  4. Oh that looks like such a cute town! I love little seaside towns that haven't been taken over by development. Unfortunately where I went to the beach as a child (Nags Head, NC) is now just a long row of rental super mansions, hotels, gated communitites, and Wings.

  5. That looks like such a fun and relaxing vacation. :) The candy store is mouthwatering! The sand castles are adorable.

So sweet to 'see' Paige seeing the ocean for the first time. :D I grew up in Naples, Florida so we were always going to the beach (it was only 15 minutes from the house!) but myself and two little brothers were ecstatic when we saw our first dusting of snow on vacation in the Smoky Mountains one year. :)

We just recently went back to Florida for a week, and it was wonderful! I shared my pictures of it in a blog post here: http://jewelsbyjulia.wordpress.com/2012/08/18/venice-florida/
Just in case you'd like to see pictures of a different kind of beach. :D

  16. I love this post! We honeymooned in Ocean Shores 8 years ago and actually stayed in that beautiful white house with the turquoise doors. Even though I got sick and was miserable for most of our time there, we made some wonderful memories and your pictures take me back to those early love memories.
