Winning and Losing

Thank you for all who voted for my "I Love You Dots" outfit in the Pins & Needles sewing contest! I won! I can't believe it. I totally didn't expect to when I entered, that blew me away. In fact, I feel a little bit guilty about it, to tell you the truth. It's nice to win, but not if everyone else can't win, too! I'd probably be that annoying mom at the soccer game vying for "participation" trophies. :o)

Plus, I feel guilty because actually, I prayed to win. Maybe that was cheating?? I just really wanted to give that $100 donation to Orphan's Lifeline Int'l. But really-all the projects were so great.

OK! I've got that off my chest.

Oh! I was going to tell you guys the story about my project, I almost forgot. So, I mentioned that Pins & Needles sent me the gorgeous materials months and months ago...and being the procrastinator that I am, I "oohed, ahhed" and set it on a shelf in the craft room. Fast forward to September and I realized the night before we left for a week of vacation that my project was due the day after we got back. Ahhhh. Oops. I didn't even know what I was going to make yet!

So when we got back home and I put Paige to bed, I set to work, intending to finish and send it in the next morning.

Enter sewing machine breaking.

Oh dear.

Then my husband said he had to "go get a tool" and he drove to Walmart at ten o clock to buy me a sewing machine. (That man loves me.) So he saved the day and I got to finish it! Yay, husband!! He sure has scored a lot of brownie points lately.

And now I'm going to bed. If you've been following me on instagram (@rufflesandstuff) you've probably heard me whining about my ear infection.  :o)  Now I have two! Goodness! :O) The Dr. said they were pretty bad, so that was validating. (See, husband? I'm not a whiner! I'm practically dying here. Can you hand me that??)

Love,
Disney

  1. Oh Disney I am so sorry that you have a double ear infection! I had an ear infection earlier this year and I know for a fact how painful it is. I honestly thought death was near...so painful! It helps me now to be more understanding and compassionate to my babies when they get sick though, so maybe it was worth it ;)

I'll say a prayer for you and congrats on the win :)

  2. I had to comment because I had an ear infection last summer and finally went to the doctors. When she said "that had to hurt" I started crying because it did! Congratulations on winning too!

    1. Oh! Yes! They're a Christian organization out of Montana that helps orphans in many countries with clothes, medical assistance, education and lots more. You can sponsor children through them, or donate in lots of other ways. They're website isn't all the way up, but you can see it at: http://www.orphanslifeline.org

  11. So glad you won! Disney, I am a christian as well and I know that you are too. That being said, i know that neither of us are perfect but you are so very close! (And I can imagine what you're thinking in your head right now but stop right there and accept this compliment!) You are so loving and genuine and I wish that we could just be friends! I just admire you for who you are and I know that there are people who follow your blog who are inspired not only by your craftiness but also by WHO YOU ARE. Even though you don't outright speak 'religion', you are living it and it is evident. What a great example you are! Your happy and positive outlook is what I soooo want for myself. Does it come naturally for you?! Anyways, I seriously just love you :) Thanks for all the many ways in which you inspire me! God Bless <3

    1. Haha, you nailed me! As soon as I read your compliment I thought "Oh man, if she only knew..." :o) You are so sweet to think of me that way, I am glad that I've managed to keep things mostly positive here. I suppose that does come naturally to me a little but, but I maaany faults. I forget everything in two seconds, I'm a little unreliable, I can't keep structure in my home to save my life...need more? I could email you a nice long list. :O)

But seriously, you made my day. Thank you so much!
