Lately.

Oh, we had such a great time in Oregon this last week. Considering the circumstances. :O/
My grandmother's funeral was absolutely lovely. There was standing room only in the church building and at one point the line to sign the guest book went out the door and to the street! There were certainly a lot of people who loved her. I can't say I was surprised. And to top it off, it even rained. :o)

It was so wonderful to see family that I haven't seen in ages, and little tiny family members that I hadn't even met before! We all headed back to my grandpa's house afterward and visited for several hours. Then some of us stayed until the next day. Paige loves my grandpa so much and the best time with him doing all the things I used to; snuggling and "stealing" his hat, checking on the monster in the basement and learning to draw horses. He even gave her a little wooden heart necklace he'd made with the letters "IYQ" on it. (Cute!) Watching the two of them was like seeing myself through my mother's eyes.

The rest of the trip was driving and more driving through some of the most beautiful countryside! I just love HWY 84 where Hood River and Multnoma Falls are. We stopped at a restaurant in The Dalles called "Cousins" that was so adorable. They literally say "Hi, cousins!" when you walk in the door, and serve you water in mason jars. Precious! Have any of you been there? I know a few of you mentioned on instagram (@rufflesandstuff) that you had. We loved it.

Then we came back to my parent's place and enjoyed more visits by the fire and endless trips to Starbucks. I also got some exciting news that I can't share yet, arg. (Not a baby.) It was pretty much wonderful. I'm really grateful that we were able to go.

And to end the week, once we got home we went to a lovely harvest party at some friends' house which ended up being a surprise "we love you!" party for us. We were truly shocked. :o) Pictures of that to come. But for now *yawn* I'm off to my snuggly wuggly blankets. Have a splendid night, guys!

Love,
Disney

P.S. Not to be all "Look at me, look at me!", but my husband just pointed out that I almost have 10,000 google followers. That kind of feels like a big deal. Thank you for being here and liking my blog. It really means the world to me you know.

  3. I've had two funerals in the past two weekends, so I can understand those feelings. But isn't it great to be around family again, even for a short time? :)

  4. Wow, lovely pics even from such a sad time in your life. Your grandma's funeral sounds like my granddad's almost fifteen years ago. Standing room only, and truly -- even though my heart was broken -- a joyous time of remembering a life lived right. His theme vverses were Philippians 4: 4-9.
I'd love to go to that restaurant! Sounds so fun!
And congrats on the 10,000! That's awesome!

  6. I've been to Cousins in The Dalles! I loved their coconut cream pie! There is also one on the eastern side of Washington in Pasco. Spooky's Pizza in The Dalles is also worth a stop...their clam chowder bowl is wonderful! I love going to the western side of Oregon during the fall. It seems so much more vibrant there than here on the east side. Congrats on 10,000 followers!
