Ten Things

1. My DIY mojo is way off and it's totally getting me down. What is wrong with me lately?? I feel like every project is a fail. :o(

2. I've been saying "dude" lately. Like, a lot. And my favorite phrase: "Dude, dude!"

3. Every day I wear t-shirts tucked into skirts. Like, pretty much every day.

4. Except when I wear my overalls. Dude, overalls!!

5. We still have our foster little, Ace. He's two months old now! I spend 70% of my day sitting in a rocking chair holding him and ignoring my other responsibilities. And I feel really good about that.

6. My house is such a mess that I don't even want to let people in my door right now.

7. I think I might dye my hair pink. Or part of it. Don't try to change my mind. :o)

8. I have been getting a lot of kind of mean/negative "anonymous" comments here on the blog lately...I delete them before I even finish reading. ;o)

9. I really like leather vests. And Starburst. And 80's music.

10. I love you.

  1. I was told by a very wise principal that if a person---parent does not sign their name to a nasty letter, do not waste you time reading it. Tear it up and throw it away. I has worked for many years. Delete!---much swifter!

  2. As long as It´s comfortable for you, It´s OK :)

  3. Sorry you are receiving some nasty comments. Don't like "anon" posters. Anyway, good on you for ignoring them and deleting their comments, they are not worth it. As for the pink hair . . . GO FOR IT!!

    ReplyDelete
  4. Good move to delete. Anonymous nastiness is about them not you. Hug that baby for all you are worth- and Miss Paige. :)

    ReplyDelete
  5. Colour your hair, why not? If you're unsure, try coloured extensions first. Everything else sounds pretty standard, you just need to take a break and do something random.

    ReplyDelete
  6. 1. Maybe your DIY mojo is on vacation till September? It will be back soon, everyone needs vacation dude ;-)

    2. Everything about clothes and hair colour changes from time to time - it's normal for women, it only proves you're not a man (or dude).

    3. If sitting in a rocking chair instead of cleaning or other duties makes you feel good, just do so and stop worrying.

    4. My house is a mess since my husband moved in... There are times when I try to do something about it but for the most of the time I just live with it as long as my things are in order. There are more important (fun) things to do than cleaning.

    5. We love you too. And your mojo. And we hate haters.

    ReplyDelete
  7. 70% of your time is very well spent: kids just can't get enough love!

    ReplyDelete
  8. I always feel my craft mojo is lower when there are more important things like rocking a baby that need to be done ;) I think pink hair would be awesome!!! Do it do it do it. And I think Pinterest has brought a lot of mean spirited people out of the woodworks to find our blogs. I agree with delete delete delete. :) Have a great week Disney

    ReplyDelete
  9. Good for you, deleting the ugly comments. This is your space.

    ReplyDelete
  10. Boo to mean anonymous comments. You are amazing. Period.

    ReplyDelete
  11. love you!!! and 80's music too....that's the good stuff!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Just had to comment to tell you how awesome you are, to counterbalance some of that negativity! Ugh, they are so mean spirited, what a waste of energy. Enjoy that baby, I have a 3 month old and also happily "waste" a lot of time cuddling and rocking. Best way to pass time ever!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Pravana hair color. Amazing bright, brilliant color. And no pre-bleaching, or anything needed. Enjoy it!

  14. Disney- I am commenting anonymously because I literally don't even know what those other options are referring to- I am technologically illiterate : ) Anyhoo, I have been reading your blog for probably two years or so and not once, not one single time that I can think of have you been anything other than perfectly lovely and sweet. I can not even fathom what kind of negative thing anyone could come up with to say about you or why anyone ever would. I do not have a blog but I imagine opening yourself up to any negativity like that is very difficult, so thank you for sharing your life and talents with us in spite of all that because you are a blessing!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. I think #5 has something to do with #1. :) Don't let the haters get you down. You're perfect! Also, PINK PINK PINK. Yes do it and post pictures. I'd love to dye my hair pink but since it's red it'd look weird.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with Anon up there-I'm flabbergasted that someone could FIND something negative to say. I'm sorry about that, but please ignore! Chalk it up to someone ELSE having a bad weird day, I don't know, but it's totally bizarre to me.

And while I can't imagine your WHOLE head pink (?), I could CERTAINLY imagine some pink highlights, which would be adorbs.

    Have a happy day. :)

(Oh, and my parents' term of affection for each other was "dude." I also use it VERY frequently.)

    ReplyDelete
  17. Kiss those kids until they are wet, and hug them until they feel smooshed. That is time well spent.
Love the idea of the pink hair.
    Enjoy your day!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I love these 10 things! And you should definitely dye some of your hair pink--i did it a few years ago and have always wanted to do it again ever since!! Also, ignore the haters, you are a marvelous human being and an amazing crafter!

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have never left a comment before but seeing your point about nasty comments has pushed me to do so. I always look at your blog ans really enjoy the postings it gives me a nice break at work and has inspired me to try some craft ideas. So I just wanted to say hi from Spain,

    Best

  20. You've got overalls??!! From where? I love overalls!
I can't imagine anyone saying mean stuff to or about you! Sending you big hugs and much love!! You are a favorite blogger of mine, and my teenage daughter also follows you and loves your stuff! Have a super day!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. I enjoyed reading these 10 things. I've been saying dude a lot too. Go for the pink...why not.

I love your blog! It was one of the first sewing blogs I followed when I started sewing about 3 years ago. Your pleated bag was the first successful bag I made. I can't imagine why someone would leave a mean/nasty comment unless they were miserable themselves. Misery loves company so you just go ahead and delete them and keep it moving. You're awesome and so is your blog (^_^)

    ReplyDelete
  22. Dude! I love your blog and your personality. Don't let those haters get you down.
Every time I drive to/fro Spokane/Seattle and go through ML I always wonder what Disney and Paige are doing... :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. Glad to hear you're not letting haters/anonymous commenters get you down. :) Keep being you; you are awesome, creative, and beautiful!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I am only anon because like the other anon, I am techie challanged! I love your blog! Don't let them meanies get to you. The way I look at it, you are such a sweet christian women and the meanies are the enemy's only way to try and bring you down. Hang in there, I love your creativeness...I truely is a gift!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Please put pink in your hair! I did a pink peak-a-boo last summer and loved it. And starburst... mmmm!

    ReplyDelete
  26. You rock dude! I love that you say it often lately...something silly and fun about the word. I call my son little dude all the time, so it's said with loooots of love. Rocking babies is heaven, and their time that small goes sooo fast! Your blog, your creations & your sharing is all wonderful! YOU especially are wonderful & pink is faaaaabulous:)

Ah, Disney, don't you know that there is always opposition to greatness? And there will be times when everything you touch falls apart -- take it from a mom of four, and a grandmother of one. I've been sewing for 30+ years, and there are times I cannot get those bleeping pieces to sew together right, and I have to take them apart twenty times. I just put them down, walk away for about 20 minutes, go outside for a walk, grab a Diet Coke, and sit back down at my machine to finish what I was doing.

Take every failure as part of the learning process, file it away in your memory, and keep going!! I have a degree in art, and there are days when I feel that a little piece of me dies if I cannot make something that day. I didn't have much time for creating when my kids were growing up, but I'm certainly making up for it now! Housework will always be there, but your little ones won't -- my oldest is now off on her own at 23 years of age. Enjoy this time with Paige and Ace. It will be gone all too soon.....

    ~Amy

  28. Dude! Loved this post! My house is a mess and I should be cleaning it instead of blog reading.....Lol! Thanks for the smiles today and don't let the haters get to you! You are awesome ;). We all love you!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Wow, I can't believe any one could think of anything mean to say about you! They must just be jealous that you are always so nice and it makes them feel bad because sometimes they aren't so nice? They probably have sad lives. You are awesome!
In my town they recently heald an 80s misuc festical called Rewind! I didn't go unfortunately but it sounded amazing. I am in the UK so don't know if you would have heard of Kim Wilde and Chesney Hawkes, but they were there!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I really like you blog, dude!
Don't ever let those negative comments get you down!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Pink? GO FOR IT! You can rock pretty much everything.
Those internet trolls get on my nerves, really. Mean and hiding behind being anonymous... I hope its not getting to you! Even though that can be hard... So sorry you have to deal with this!

And Dude! Not to worry about messes and mojos right now. Snuggle that little bug and once you get enough sleep again, your energy and your mojo will return!

Lots of love to you and yours!

  32. Oooh, I just had a baby boy 2 months ago. I too spend more time holding a baby than cleaning or crafting and while I miss the sewing and knitting I love my baby more. And my house would be a disaster zone if it weren't for my husband and 5 older kids who can be pressed into slave labor ;)

I agree with everyone else, the negative comments are probably more about them than you. I know it is hurtful but it does call to mind a few scriptures 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 and John 16:33. Just stay the course and remember that Jesus loves you :)

  33. pink hair is fabulous and i think everyone should try it at least once, even if it's just a temporary streak or two. i've done a white blonde, pink, purple, and bright blue streak (or streaks, all at different times) and loved all of them. some people thought it was really strange, but those who knew me best knew i was just finally (at long last) coming into my own and expressing myself.

as for the negative/nasty comments - they can stick it. don't let them get to you.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Dude, you rock!
    Love,

P.S.: Tell Paige I'm excited/proud of her for skateboarding! I always wanted to be a skater girl & so for my 25th birthday I bought myself a board... & now I am, but not all trickster-y yet {I'm waiting on health insurance before I do that - funny, but true}. =)
P.P.S.: Haters gonna hate. {Luke 21:17}. It's sad... for them especially.

  35. I am so sorry for the anonymous notes. It really galls me how people hide behind anonymity to be rude and say things that they wouldn't dare say to your face. If people are so rude than I think you are quite right to delete them and not expose yourself to vile remarks that people don't even have the courage to sign. I feel like a mother bear now wanting to protect you, as I am of the age that I could be your mother. I so wish I could protect you but I can't, more's the pity. Keep your chin up.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Pink hair? DO IT!!! While you're young enough to not look like you are "trying too hard", lol! Although there are older people who can look good with it, too. Dude! I am 40 and say it waaaayyy too often! I have seven kids and only one of them actually uses it- my 18 yr old daughter. We both began by using it to be silly and it stuck- a word version of "if you keep making that face, it'll get stuck like that". Rocking your foster? Good for you! Fill his sweet, little heart up with knowing what love is. Paige is so great for her fearless skateboarding! I was such a klutz at it, I was never able to do it, such a bummer. Anonymous haters? Pray. For them. For their jealousy, discontent, hate, hopelessness, etc. How sad and awful to be so unhappy with someone else's joy that a person would actually put the time and effort into spewing hate. I hope it stops, and that it doesn't get you down!

  37. Disney - you're awesome. I read every blog post you write, and I love them all. I hate hearing that you have been getting negative comments. I can't understand at all!! You are so cheerful and lovely, you make me smile. I can't imagine anyone not loving you. Plus, your style is awesome. Go for the pink! Make sure to post a picture. =)

  40. I say go for the pink hair! I've been wanting to dye my hair lavender or teal for some time now and been holding back while looking for a job.

I'm sorry you've been getting some mean anonymous comments. Good for you for deleting them!

  41. I have a three year old and a one year old. Hold them...it goes so so fast.

One of the best pieces of advise I have received was, 'not everyone is going to like you. That's not your problem, it's theirs."

You are wonderful. The world is a better place because you are in it.

Sending you a big hug although it sounds like you have lots and lots at the moment, don't forget to bop along to a bit of 80's rock.

  46. I think the pink hair is a great idea! Mean comments - awful, you are such a wonderful, talented special person and you should never forget that! Shirts tucked into skirts - if your looking for some ideas I have a weekly fashion segment on my blog that features three outfits you can buy on a budget - usually a whole outfit under $50 - $60 and sometimes if you have similar items they are FREE from your wardrobe, feel free to stop by the blog on a Friday @ 9am AEST. No matter what, you are awesome and you have more people that love you than mean people around you!!

  47. Dude, pink hair would rock. Negative commenters have waaaaaaaay too much time on their hands. You rock. You will get your mojo back, and I can't wait to see what you do when it's back!

    ReplyDelete
  48. So sorry you're getting mean comments! What a lame thing to do, Come on People! Just say "Dude, seriously?" And delete their butts. I think pink hair would be AWESOME...have you seen the girls that get that ombre thing done but have pink at the ends instead of just lighter hair? I've always thought that was so cute. And I'm 100% sure the thought that you're losing your creative mojo is just you being harder on yourself than you should be. Your stuff is so cute. Love, Emily

  49. Booooo to anyone leaving negative comments! Just sayin' dude...if you have time to leave a message why not share a little bloggin' love. It goes a long way. As mothers every where say: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Disney, enjoy that little foster baby and love on him as much as you can. You both deserve it. The dishes will always be there. Laundry always needs washed. Babies...well, we all know they grow too quickly and will soon be on their way to independence. My first baby starts college on Monday morning and I still wonder where the time went. I was "just rocking her in chair" and now I barely see her. Enjoy all the babies you are blessed to parent and shower them with all the love and affection that dwells within your kind heart.

  50. I love your blog and do TONS of people I'm sure. I don't know why people waste their time leaving a negative comment. Why is it we tell our kids "If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all" but as adults we figure if we gossip or leave a comment anonymously that it's ok. Keep doing what you're doing and with a little one, we all get why you fall of the band wagon a little. I'm impressed you do ANY crafts with one that little.
