(Super) Happy Day 8: Little Fixes (a preview of my book!!)

So, I guess I wrote a book.
Weird!
I've been waiting forever to share it with you and it's finally out for presale! Whaaaat?!?! I can't wait to get a copy in my hands, but here are a few images, and you can see a little bit more in the "look inside" feature on Amazon.com

It's called "Little Fixes" and it's all about ways to alter kids' clothing to make them cuter, fit better, or hide stains, holes and other childhood mayhem. It was born out of necessity, as seemingly from birth Paige has had super special "clothing-destroyer" powers. :O)

This book was sooooo much fun to work on. And I say "work" with much emphasis, because work it most certainly was. Remember last spring when I pretty much didn't blog at all? That's why. I did the creative work, the planning, the shopping, the sewing, the schedule organizing (possibly the hardest part!) the photography and styling, the photo editing, the writing, and some of the manuscript editing all myself....for over 50 projects & photoshoots and 12 child models. Whew!! It was so fun!! Working with the kids was my favorite part. I love those little stinkers so much!

But now that "Little Fixes" is coming out soon (July 1st!) I'm starting to get really nervous. I'm suddenly realizing that other people are going to see this! People out in the real world! Scary!!

But it's a good scary. Working really hard on something and then seeing the results? That. Is a happy thing.

Have a happy day, you beautiful person!!
love,
Disney

  3. this is a beautiful book. I suppose I only see one flaw (and this is probably because of my minority gender studies) but I know your heart.

I wish you the best of luck!

  6. Disney I think this is super for you. So excited that you did this. While I already do these types of things myself (knowledge passed down my family for years) it's so cool that you wrote it up in a book so that people who don't have lots of sewing mentors can learn to fix up kids clothes. Awesome girl! Keep up the amazingness.

  7. By the way, the comment above wasn't to imply that I know ALL your clever ways in the book. Just that it's neat to see you writing a book on these type of thrifty things that I thought only my family did. I'm sure I can learn a thing or two from your great work.

I just want to say with my deepest sincerity congratulations. You're amazing and I know you will have wonderful success with this new venture!

  14. I saw this and all I can think is why are there no African kids? Is this just for white girls? Just wondering why you didn't use any other models.

    1. Wait, how do you know none of these kids are African? Are you implying that there are no white people in Africa? I'm offended!! Haha, just kidding. Like I'm assuming you are ;)

    2. But there it's a little half native American girl, one is a quarter-ish African and the half Asian. And ask the boys? Obviously not just for "little white girls"
